As TempleCon 2011 draws closer it's time to begin getting you acquainted with the guest presenters and personalities who help make TempleCon such an unforgettable temporal excursion.  To that end we bring you our first Guest Spotlight for TempleCon 2011 featuring Ay-leen the Peacemaker, who is co-presenting the panels Steampunk Around the World: Steampunk Beyond Victoriana and Envisioning a Better Steam Society: Social Issues and Steampunk.

Ay-leen the Peacemaker is the founding editor of Beyond Victoriana, a blog about multicultural steampunk. Ay-leen has been involved with the  steampunk communities in New York City and the New England areas as a con presenter and a general rabble-rouser with The Wandering Legion of the Thomas Tew.  She has spoken about issues of race & gender in steampunk at conventions such as the Steampunk World's Faire 2010.  Her academic essay on steampunk fashion, co-written with Jha Goh, will be published in the anthology Fashion Talks: Undressing the Power of Style, edited by Shira Tarrant and published by SUNY Press.  She has also been interviewed about steampunk and its evolving subculture for Tor.com and the Fall 2010 upcoming books The Steampunk Bible (Abrams Image) and Steampunk: Reloaded (Tachyon Publications).  Currently, Ay-leen lives and works in New York City.

Game with the TempleCon Staff This Weekend

E-mail Print PDF
It has been a busy summer thus far!  As many of you may know, the TempleCon staff has recently opened a gaming shop and lounge in Pawtucket, Rhode Island aptly titled "The Temple: The Art of Great Games".   This weekend (July 30 - August 1) is our Grand Opening Celebration, and we'd love to see you there!

Stop on by during the weekend and tell us what you are excited to see at TempleCon 2011, and we'll let you in on what we have in store for the convention as well.   With our store open, we're happy to announce that you'll be able to pre-register for TempleCon 2011 in person at The Temple Games!

We'll be firing up a pair of grills on our outdoor area under the tent as well to keep everyone fed.  Come expecting events, prizes, and more as we throw one hell of a party to celebrate The Temple Games in all of its glory!  We hope to see you there!

And we're back once again.

We're proud to introduce the shiny new TempleCon website for 2011!  While we obviously still have a quite a bit more to add as the big weekend in February gets closer, we've added some new info about some of what you can expect at TempleCon 2011 as well as opened up pre-registration and room reservation!

There are some big things currently in the works for 2011.   While we are very happy to say that we are staying at the incredible Crowne Plaza Hotel, I am also pleased to say that we'll be expanding our space again after experiencing our largest attendance yet in 2010.   Also, based on your feedback, we'll be making even better use of this space and providing you with a very large dedicated vendors area right near our incredibly successful Clockwork Bazaar.   Add to all of that a ton of new events, panels, classes, shows, and more, and we're looking at a vision of TempleCon that rivals anything that this convention has brought you in the past 5 years.

So, with that, enjoy the new site.   Be sure to check into our Facebook and Twitter feed to get up-to-the minute updates about what we're up to, what we're planning, or what we're drinking.  ;)
