Because we know that plenty of people come to TempleCon to do things besides gaming, and even the most die-hard gamer needs to take a break from the competition sometime, we are expanding our program of workshops, classes, and panels for TempleCon 2010.
At TempleCon 2009 we began hosting a hugely popular series of bellydance classes, featuring Moirae bellydance teaching tribal improv bellydance and Aepril Schaile teaching Raqs Victoriana: the art of Victorian-inspired bellydance. We are continuing with plans for more dance classes with retro-futurist themes, as well as a relaxing yoga session led by local bellydancer and performance artist Ameena, to help energize and calm you in the midst of the whirlwind of other TempleCon events.
For miniatures wargamers interested in developing the necessary skills to compete in our annual miniatures painting contest, TempleCon 2010 is featuring miniatures painting workshops led by award-winning painters. We are also hosting a three-class series over the course of the weekend for wargamers interested in learning to create the kind of mind-blowing custom terrain tables that TempleCon is famous for. Stay tuned for more details!
Kicking our retro-futurist theme into high gear, TempleCon 2010 features new genre-specific costuming panels and classes, plus additional in-theme discussions and events, including more readings and panel discussions by Guest Writers and Artists. In addition, we offer three levels of single-malt scotch tasting sessions led by three-time V:tES North American Champion and scotch connoisseur Ben Peal, a discussion and display of post-apocalyptic weaponry, a Retro-Futurist jewelry-making workshop, and a Neo-Victorian high tea in the Con Suite on Sunday. Check back frequently, as we continue to add more events!
